The last week of May 2025 is the so-called Ascension Week. One of the days 28th-30th of may we will organize a 120th birthday party to which you and your partner are invited. Do you have children staying at home?
Of course they are also welcome!
We invite you to the party with food, drinks and entertainment. We will also offer a couple more activities during the week, such as hiking or running between two mountain villages, and of course showing our dream project in Manolates.
We will later present more activities with registration for each activity. In addition, we will give ideas about good activities, restaurants and beaches, etc.

In the spring of 2019, we vacationed on the "green island" of Samos and were out running on the fantastic trails between the mountain villages of Vourliotes and Manolates. We stopped for a lunch break at a cozy restaurant in Manolates and took the opportunity to look around the picturesque little village. We saw a renovation property with amazing views of the Aegean Sea for sale and immediately started fantasizing about buying it and soon planned to travel back in 2020 to continue the plans to buy a house in Greece.
The village of Manolates
However, it took until autumn 2021 before we could travel to Samos again (a pandemic got in the way) and now we had put the plans to renovate and buy a house on the shelf. But then we were out running on the trails in the mountains again and were drawn back to Manolates. When we saw the house again it was still for sale and we felt MAGIC. We just said "we'll do it". It felt like the place and the house spoke to us and we wanted nothing more than to own it and spend a lot of time in this village. Continued from the Manolates page.
In the coming months, research followed with the help of Greek contacts if the house was okay, if the residents of the small village of 70 could imagine a Swedish couple buying a house there and if we could also buy the neighboring house (built in 1855) which had a window facing "our" terrace. Negotiations with the broker also began and we found out everything legal and practical and in the end we realized that nothing stood in the way of us venturing into buying these two houses. The dream project
In March 2022, we became owners of the objects and the search for a good builder began. In May of the same year, we had found him and since then, with his help, we have renovated, restored and joined the two houses into one. It is still not possible to live in the house, but sometime in 2024 we hope to be able to finish the bedroom, bathroom and entrance/hallway so that we can sleep there for the first time.
Accomodation

Travel
buses and taxis.
You choose how you want to get to Samos, how you want to stay and how long you want to stay. It is possible to fly regularly from Stockholm, Landvetter or Kastrup to Athens and then with connecting flights on to Samos. Sometimes it is possible to get such a ticket as a through ticket, but you can also buy these two tickets separately with different companies. We have mostly traveled with SAS and/or Aegean. There are also charter trips to Samos with both Ving, Airtours, Apollo and TUI. Those companies also sell airplane seats on their departures in case you want to arrange accommodation yourself.
It will not be difficult for you to find accommodation at the end of May. If you choose a charter trip, it will take care of itself. Otherwise, we recommend that you look for accommodation on, for example, booking.com, hotels.com or Airbnb. We recommend you to stay in Kokkari. It is a community on the north coast, i.e. the same part of the island where our village Manolates is located, approx. 20 minutes' drive away. The party will most likely be organized in either Kokkari, Manolates or Agios Konstantinos. Kokkari has both beaches, shopping and lots of restaurants and bars. Pythagorio is also a nice option, which is close to the airport, but slightly further from Kokkari and Manolates. Pythagorio also has nice shopping, many restaurants, but not so big beach.
nya_mojligheterigrekland Pre-registration
We are sending out this invitation well in advance so that you have time and the opportunity to schedule time off this particular week. An early invitation also means that all the details are not ready, for example exactly what day the party will be and where we will have the party. We already have some options but to some extent it also depends on how many people have the opportunity to come. Therefore, we need to receive a preliminary answer from you already before 20 October 2024. You will be given three options to choose from and of course the answer is not binding but only an expression of interest so that we have an indication of how many people we should plan the party for (160 people are invited).
It is a great advantage to have a rental car all or part of the week because there are not many buses on Samos. You need a car to get to Manolates. It is also nice to have a car to get around the amazing island and visit different beaches (300) and other excursion destinations. Feel free to get together and rent a car with other guests if you don't fill up a whole car. It is also possible to order a taxi to get to the places you need to go. There are international rental car companies such as Hertz, Avis etc.
TAXI
Taxi is a good alternative to bus. Always ask for the price before you get into the car, as a rule these are fixed prices.
